Dodge’s 1,000-Horsepower Hornet R/T FC1-X Roars into Nitrocross 2024

Forget the Charger—Dodge has just revealed something even more impressive. The iconic American carmaker has introduced a new 1,000-horsepower electric rally car based on the Dodge Hornet. This incredible vehicle is set to make waves in the motorsport world, making its debut in the 2024-2025 Nitrocross Series. And the excitement doesn’t stop there; rising rally star Lia Block will be behind the wheel, along with three other top drivers.

The production Dodge Hornet R/T already stands out with its plug-in hybrid powertrain, sporty design, and impressive performance stats. It’s Dodge’s first electrified performance vehicle, boasting 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. But the new Hornets developed by Dreyer & Reinbold Racing are in a league of their own.

Hornet

They’ve transformed this crossover into the Hornet R/T FC1-X race car—a 1,000-horsepower, all-wheel-drive monster. Equipped with axial flux motors delivering 1,070 horsepower, a tubular chassis, a carbon-fiber body, and cutting-edge suspension, this electric rally car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.4 seconds and generates nearly 2g of acceleration right off the line. Its sheer power rivals that of some of the most exclusive hypercars.

Dodge’s Hornet R/T FC1-X is gearing up for its thrilling debut in the Nitrocross Series, an exhilarating motorsport created by action sports icon Travis Pastrana. Known for its wild combination of pavement and dirt tracks, dramatic jumps, and intense close-quarters racing, Nitrocross is far from a tame spectacle. Since its inception in 2020, the series has quickly gained popularity for its “controlled chaos” and the daring drivers who test the limits of racing.

For the 2024-2025 season, four Dodge Hornet R/T FC1-X vehicles will compete in the Group E class, the premier tier of the series. Heading the team will be Lia Block, the youngest American Rally Association champion, joined by two-time Group E champion Robin Larsson, rising talent Fraser McConnell, and experienced driver Andres Bakkerud. With a mix of youthful energy, experience, and exceptional skill, Dodge’s entry into Nitrocross promises to be one of the season’s most captivating stories.
