**New Premium Platform Electric with 800-volt Architecture**
The electric motors draw power from a lithium-ion battery located in the underbody, boasting a gross capacity of 100 kWh, with up to 95 kWh available for active use. This HV battery is a central component of Porsche’s newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with an 800-volt architecture, making its debut in the new Macan. The DC charging output reaches up to 270 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes at compatible fast-charging stations. When using 400-volt charging stations, a high-voltage switch in the battery allows bank charging by effectively splitting the 800-volt battery into two 400-volt batteries, each capable of charging at up to 135 kW without the need for an additional HV booster. AC charging at speeds of up to 11 kW is achievable with household wall boxes.
During driving, the electric motors can recuperate up to 240 kW of energy. The Integrated Power Box (IPB) further enhances the efficiency of the new Macan models while saving weight and space. This innovative and compact IPB combines three components: the on-board AC charger, the high-voltage heater, and the DC/DC converter. The combined WLTP range is up to 613 km in the Macan 4 and up to 591 km in the Macan Turbo.
**Sporty Proportions and Coupe-Like Lines**
The new Macan models feature sharper proportions and Porsche Design DNA, giving them a dynamic and commanding appearance. Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche, states, “With the all-electric Macan, we are introducing the first Porsche to transition to electric while retaining an established product identity.” The new Macan maintains its brand identity as part of the Porsche product family, with classic Porsche proportions refined to meet the challenges of an electric vehicle. This enhances the sporty, modern, and dynamic appearance of the Macan. The design reinforces that the Macan remains the sports car in its segment, even in electric form.
The shallow bonnet pitch and pronounced wings lend a dynamic presence to the entry-level SUV, measuring 4,784 mm in length, 1,938 mm in width, and 1,622 mm in height. The new Macan can be fitted with up to 22-inch wheels with staggered tyre fitment. Despite an 86 mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor (2,893 mm), short overhangs at the front and rear balance the proportions. The headlights, split into two parts, feature a flat upper light unit with four-point daytime running lights embedded in the wings, emphasizing the car’s width. The main headlight module, with optional matrix LED technology, sits slightly lower in the front end. The characteristic Porsche flyline blends seamlessly with the flat rear window, while frameless doors with distinctive side blades contribute to a sleek, sporty design. Muscular shoulders at the rear enhance its appearance, with the Porsche logo now centered within the sculptural 3D light strip.
Two Spacious Luggage Compartments and Enhanced Interior Room
The new Porsche Macan blends performance with practicality, offering premium features and ample interior space. Electrification has resulted in expanded luggage capacity in the Macan. Depending on the model and equipment, the cargo area behind the rear seats now offers up to 540 litres (in cargo mode). Additionally, there’s the ‘frunk,’ a second storage compartment under the hood with a capacity of 84 litres, providing 136 litres more than the previous model. Folding down the rear seat backrest further increases cargo space to up to 1,348 litres. With a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg, the new Macan proves highly versatile.
Driver and front passenger seats are now positioned up to 28 mm lower, while rear passengers enjoy up to 15 mm more legroom, depending on the model and configuration. Inside, the unmistakable Porsche design is evident, with the cockpit’s width accentuated by an integrated black panel. The elevated centre console design enhances the feeling of a low, performance-oriented seating position. Large windows contribute to an airy interior ambiance. Alongside modern digital interfaces, select analogue controls, such as air vents and climate controls, add tactile feedback. An integrated LED light strip in the trim strip of the cockpit and doors serves as both ambient lighting and a communication indicator, providing information or warnings, such as greetings, charging status, or alerts from driver assistance systems, as needed. The new Macan offers extensive customization options.
Driver Experience: Advanced Computing Power and Connectivity
The Porsche Macan features the latest-generation display and control system, boasting up to three screens, including the 12.6-inch, curved-design instrument cluster and the 10.9-inch central display. For the first time, passengers can access information and adjust settings via their own optional 10.9-inch screen. The Porsche Driver Experience now includes a head-up display with augmented reality technology, seamlessly integrating virtual elements such as navigation arrows into the driver’s view. The system operates at a distance of 10 meters, appearing equivalent to an 87-inch display.
Powered by Android Automotive OS, the new-generation infotainment system enhances connectivity and functionality. The standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system offers lightning-fast responses, with the “Hey Porsche” voice assistant suggesting routes and charging stops efficiently. Passengers can access popular third-party apps directly through the new Porsche App Centre and install them seamlessly into the Macan’s system.
