Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey (992.2) Shaves Seconds Off Nürburgring Lap Time

Porsche has once again thrown its hat into the Nürburgring lap time battle, improving its own benchmark with the latest 911 GT3 (992.2) equipped with the Manthey Kit. On its second flying lap, the track-focused machine recorded a time of 6:50.863—nearly five seconds quicker than its previous effort and a clear sign that Porsche is still refining its formula.
While that time doesn’t quite match the blistering pace recently set by rivals like Chevrolet and Ford, it still represents a meaningful leap forward. Compared to the earlier GT3 (992.1) Manthey lap, the new run is 4.874 seconds faster, and it’s over five seconds quicker than a standard GT3 without the Manthey upgrades. Interestingly, a previous Manthey-modified 992.1 managed an even faster 6:45.389 lap earlier this year, showing just how competitive these finely tuned variants can be under the right conditions.
The Manthey Kit transforms the already capable 911 GT3 into a far more track-focused weapon. It introduces redesigned front and rear aero elements for significantly increased downforce, along with a four-way adjustable coilover suspension setup featuring stiffer springs. The underbody has also been reworked, now incorporating extended turning vanes that improve airflow and stability at speed. For this record attempt, the car was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires to maximize grip.

Even in its least aggressive configuration, the GT3 Manthey produces 782 pounds of downforce. In its most extreme setup—as used for this Nürburgring run—that figure jumps to an impressive 1,190 pounds, putting it right in line with the most aerodynamically advanced track cars in its class.
Under the hood, the car retains the familiar naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine, delivering 518 horsepower and 342 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Despite the added performance hardware, weight remains relatively low at 3,268 pounds, helping preserve the car’s sharp handling characteristics.

This latest lap is another reminder of Porsche’s relentless pursuit of performance at the Nürburgring. Even when competing against increasingly fierce rivals, the brand continues to refine and extract more from its iconic 911 platform.
